Trailer

If I were to make a trailer, the genre that I would most likely choose would be romance. I think that this would be my chosen genre because I have had prior experience with the romance genre when creating the opening for my film as part of G321. I think that this prior experience would help me to understand what is needed within a romance genre and therefore it would help me to develop my ideas further and in more depth. I think that doing a romance genre would be entertaining for me as I enjoyed the G321 practical use of the romance genre.

Romance genre examples:

The Fault In Our Stars trailer:

This trailer gives the audience an insight into the life of the main character (Hazel Grace) and the struggles and lifestyle she faces/lives with due to her troubles. The trailer then shows the behaviour and change in feelings/emotions when she meets a fellow cancer sufferer. The use of showing continuous shots that contain the two of them being happy allows for the audience to see the connection between the two. Due to the fact that the two are cancer sufferers, people are encouraged to see the outcome of their two lives but also how they cope on a daily basis with the idea that they're cancer patients. The fact that the storyline is something that is highly talked about in terms of medical conditions, it also encourages people to watch the film in order to understand the different struggles that a cancer patient has to go through and also how they overcome it. I think that this trailer informs the audience that you can still live your life even if there is something trying to hold you back. I think that the trailer encourages people to want to see the film purely based on the passion and connection between the two main characters.

Crazy, Stupid, Love trailer:

I think that this trailer intrigues me purely on the fact that it gives a little story based on the film. It allows for the audience to see that the man isn't really happy or successful with his wife and therefore he gets depressed about it. He then comes across this handsome young man who helps him look more appealing to women in order for him to be successful in terms of sex and love. I think that this trailer gives away a little bit about the journey the two men embark on and the main character's journey from being a nobody to a somebody. This trailer has been created in a way that encourages women to want to see the film in order to see how changing a man can make him become more successful when it comes to his love life and the women in it. It also demonstrates that happiness and success can be found but only if the person tries hard enough.

10 things I hate about you trailer:

This trailer is good because it demonstrates the everyday life of a teenage girl and therefore can easily be relatable to the target audience. It follows the life of a young guy who struggles to gain the affection of girl. It shows scenes of the two being happy and 'lovey' with one another and therefore gives the audience an indication that the two are having an on and off relationship. I think that this trailer is good because it highlights the life of a teenager and therefore encourages teenagers to go and watch the film in order to see how successful they are in terms of love and being happy.
